I'm about to do a rye with 5lbs of pale extract and 3.3lbs of rye extract. The hops will be Kent Goldings, probably six oz and SA-04 yeast.

Just looking to see if anyone has done one similar and has any suggestions of changes or additions.

I guess it'll be a bit of a rye IPA but not on the crazy side.

needs about twice the rye if you wanna taste it. those extracts are only like 20% rye, so it'll just add a lil dryness & better head retention at this level (8%)

disclaimer: i've never used rye extract, just basing this on how much you need in AG to notice it

Thanks dcp27. I'll look at my extract to see what the percentage is. If you are correct, perhaps I can get some rye malted grain to steep with it.

@inhousebrew, I'll look into those recipes from NB. I'm trying to develop my palate by simplifying my recipe's though.

Both of these recipes from Northern Brewer use all Rye extract:

Just for a reference to a known recipe.

Never done a English Styled Rye Pale Ale. Should be good with 04 and EKG I would imagine.

Thanks for posting these links... I was just looking at the Denny's All grain recipe and wondering how I could brew the extract version. Off to the homebrew store, just called to verify they have everything. Can't wait!
