It's 20 litres/5.3 US gallons, so a decent size for 5 gallon batches. Just wondering if anyone knows if Igloos are as good as the Rubbermaid coolers when it comes to heat retention.

Cheers!

Nick

Cooler itself is fine, but I would get at least a 10 gallon. Look here and scroll down to "Can I Mash It?" You'll see that with any 5 gallon batch bigger beers with 14lbs of grain and a 1.25 qt/lb thickness, you'll run into trouble. If you decide to try playing with a thinner mash thickness smaller beer, you will also have trouble.

I have a five gallon and also recommend a 10 gallon. I can get 15 pounds at 1 qt/lb in my 5 gallon, but it's not ideal, and there's never any head space (no matter how many pounds of grain) if I were to want to do a multiple infusion step mash.
