Wasn't a horrible boil over...but it happened just as I added the first hop.

Recipe calls for Magnum @ 60
All I have is Chinook, Centenial and Citra.
Since Magnum is 13.5% Alpha...Citra comes closest @ 14.1%

HELP....in 5 minutes I will add Citra if no answer.

Thanks!

Or...the next hop addition is Chinook at 20...what if I add it earlier?

Recipe
1 0z Mag - 60
1 oz Chinook - 20
.5 oz Centenial - 20
1.5 oz Cent - 5

Dry hop with Citra 1 oz
Recipe is black IPA

@Nightstrife - I added 1/2 oz Citra.
Instead of the chinook at 20, going for 25.
Figure what's the worst that can happen...taste hoppier...

Not looking forward to cleaning the pot...:(

First time with the new burner (Edelmetal)...loving it...but not use to it yet.
Burns hotter for sure...now know to turn heat down a bit more before first addition.

Yep when adding anything to the boil your rapidly changing the physical properties of the wort and it's good practice to lower/turn off the heat so it it more controllable

Never had to turn down as much with the ol' torch burner.
This thing makes the old burner like using a candle.
At any rate, I now know with this burner to turn waay down before 1st addition until the temp steadies.
