I've been brewing 10 gallon batches but always lower gravity beers. Usually 14 to 18 pounds of grain per batch with 1.25 quarts of water per lb. Has anyone maxed out the limit of a 10 gallon mash tun useing 1.25 gallons per pound of grain? Just wondering how big of a beer you can make with out screwing the mash process up. Thanks!

Mash thicker, 1.1 quarts per pound. That should squeeze a few more lbs in there and will likely increase your efficiency a tad, too.

We brewed a 10 gal Oatmeal Stout with 27 pounds of grain, worked fine. Go to rackers.org. Somewhere on there is a calculator "can I mash it". Pretty tight but it worked
