Hey guys. I've seen some of the threads on the use of paint strainer bags to filter out the sludge from the boiling pot when it goes into the primary. Seems to me that these bags would not be effective, at least for the sludge I experienced on my first boil (Brewer's Best Summer Ale). Holes too big. I've attached a number of links to various "coladores" which are used to make cuban coffee the old fashioned way. These are easily available in Miami supermarkets, but would have to be purchased on-line elsewhere. They are foodsafe, as they are used for brewing coffee and can stand high brewing temps. They are cheap. The only thing is, most are quite small, about 3" in diameter, but it is possible that larger sizes are available. Anyway, has anyone tried these for sludge filtering or something similar?
