Default Height of heating element in e-keggle?

Hey guys,

I'm about to start drilling holes in my kegs to install fittings. I have the heights for the ball valve and sight glass/thermometer (3-3/4" from bottom of keg)...but I don't know what height most people are using for the heating elements.

Thanks for any help...or pointing me in the right direction.

Jon.

usually there are 2 options:

1) horizontally as low as will fit in your kettle, so there is the minimum amount of liquid require to cover the element and keep it from dry-firing

2) vertically from the bottom of the kettle. requires a MUCH higher minimum liquid level.

As low as you can mount it.
