I had two packets of Wyeast. I activated both of them, I only ended up using one a few weeks ago (been since Jan 27).

The packet swelled and is still swelled in the fridge since I activated it. I assume it'll still be fine and the yeast are just cold crashed in the packet waiting to be active again. So can I just put the numbers into the yeastcalc.com with the date on the package and start a starter (the yeast date is Dec. 19th, so it would have some viability)? I plan to brew on Saturday and would use the yeast.

I bought a new package of yeast that is on it's way, so worse case I can use the old package

I really don't need to use the yeast but it also seems like I'd be fine using it. I may use it in a pinch to help boost my numbers depending on when my shipment of yeast arrives.

You're cool. It will be just fine come Saturday. Just use it as you normally would and same goes for the yeast calculator.

i made a yeast starter with it, smelled decent enough. was more of a chunky slurry a bit rather than the typical pure liquid-y Wyeast...so should be good.
