I am about to do my first Starter. The OG of the beer is 1.052 and it will be a 5 gallon batch. I used the Mr. Malty calculator and it said one pack and 1.14 liters of starter volume with intermittent shaking. Is that a propagator or activator. I am planning on using one cup of DME to the 1.14 liters of water. Does that sound right? Any help would be appreciated
thanks

I'm not sure what 1 cup of DME weighs. Just for giggles, you can download a windows app that I wrote that will calculate this for you. You can put in your volume of 1.14L and the gravity you want the starter at (I use 1.030) and the calculator shows 3oz or 88.5 grams of DME. You can download this software here

I use 1g of DME for every 10ml of water in the starter. For your 1.14L starter, I'd use 114g of DME.
