I have never made a starter for liquid or dry yeast. However I had a jar of harvested Abbey Ale II yeast and was making a Belgian Golden Strong and though even though this yeast is a beast I should give them a fair shot.
Not sure if I majorly over pitched, however after pitching I went out and came home 4 hours later and had activity in the air lock (sweet). An hour later I looked at it before I went to sleep tosee a thick layer of krausen...deciding not to risk it I threw on a large blow off tube last night.
And all night I could hear those little yeasties rocking away.
