hello to all, first i want to give some introduccion, then the help questions,
Im newbie in this beer world, talking about producing beer, but with more experiene running a bar, i have a beer dispenser system installed on the bar on loan from my beer distributor, named flash chiller(brand: GEL CHOPP company in São Paulo – Brasil) this model works with r134a refrigerant and have 11000 btu capacity, am using a commertial 30 litre kegs from Modelo especial and Negra Modelo, i want to introduce beer with diferent flavors in the bar, adding some extract or puree to the modelo especial or negra modelo beer.
the questions are:

1.-exists a tool to open a comercial keg? ( i saw a video where some guy with a screwdriver remove the conection ring and then access the empty keg ( in this case will be full)

2.- can i add flavor to a modelo especial or negra modelo commertial keg? ( like vanilla, cherry, etc etc)

3.- i will need to hot up the beer again o just adding extract or pure?

4.- if this its possible what is the difference between puree and extract.

THANKS in advance i will apreciate your help.

What kind of tap does the Modelo 30 liter keg use? I see the Especial is sold in the USA in 1/4 kegs (7.75 gallons - which is a bit shy of 30 liters) which use the Sankey D Type. And the mayhem in the videos I've seen of how people have removed the spear on those kegs rarely leaves me feeling the keg could be successfully re-sealed.

Why not come up with a mini-shot dispenser holding various extracts that you could shoot (with a flourish, of course!) into each glass before filling it with the basic beer? That would easily enable a wide range of adulterants - err - characters - to be added (at a premium, certainly) without having to actually premix and hold all that volume of doctored - umm - "enhanced" beer...

Cheers! ;)

[edit] I shudder to consider that this may be how Starbucks got started...

day trippr you are right its a liitle less than 30 its like 29, the insistence of several system dispensers and fill the keg or add a flavor dispenser in the process before the tap its simple.
all bussines(bars)have his secrets metods and recipes, and if i do the fill glass in front of the customers it will lost the mistery of the several flavors ( and for the competitors will be easy to copy the metod). the idea its install 6 flash chiller in the bar and dispense a diferent flavor from each tap this will be more atractive to customers and will create more doubt and uncertainty to bars that are near or be a rivalry. i apreciate your help and comments

I think you will run into some angry distributors if you try to open a keg and add flavors. If a brewery gets its keg back with nasty puree residue inside I imagine they will be upset. It also may violate your contract with the distributor.

Sounds like you could use inline flavor infusers* of some sort. One or more kegs in the cellar, 6 different infusers, 6 fruity taps.

*Disclaimer: I know nothing about the bar business, infusers, or flavor-doped beers. If this turns out to be a successful idea, you can send me monthly royalty checks.

I was thinking one of those hop rocket canisters myself. Then you could route the beer through a chosen one for the extra flavors.
