Its Guy Fawkes Day/Night. I suggest everyone do a brew in honor of it. And also do another one Saturday for the other big holiday. Perhaps a little V for Vendetta watchage should occur too.

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent
To blow up the King and Parli'ment.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England's overthrow;
By God's providence he was catch'd (or by God's mercy*)
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring. (Holla*)
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
And what should we do with him? Burn him!

I miss Bonefire nights in England.

I miss Bonfire night right here in MD! ;) My mom worked for Land Rover when I was growing up, and they always had a big night cookout with a giant bonfire and the the effigy burning and everything.

Wife and I went to the Ship Inn in Milford NJ on Monday night. Normally slow that day, but they were packed. Turned out they have an annual Guy Fawkes Day Celebration. Everyone was dress in period garb. King, queen, knights, even peasants. Good feast going on with plenty of English brew. At one point we all cleared out and went across the street to burn the guy. :eek:
