While I was looking for information on microscopy of lupulin glands I got a search result from Laboratory Studies for Brewing Students:
Laboratory studies for brewing students a systematic course of practical work in the scientific principles underlying the processes of malting and brewing. by Adrian J. Brown published in 1904. It appears that the author was a member for the faculty at the Univ. of Birmingham at the time of publication. I'm sure that there are aspects of it that are dated but since it is available for free from The Internet Archive, Open Library, and Google Books it is probably worth a look if you are interested.
