Its that time of year again! Im going to be brewing my first pumpkin ale soon and i wanted to see what everyones favorite recipes are.
I work at a bakery and have plenty of access to pumpkin, brown sugar, and spices, so I'm trying to figure out the best ratios.

The original recipe was from Brewing Classic Styles and I've made my changes to it. The pumpkin pie spice is 1/2 tsp ciinamon, 1/4 tsp ginger, 1/8 tsp nutmeg, 1/8 tsp allspice

Amount Name Type #
11 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) UK (3.0 SRM) Grain 1
8.0 oz Aromatic Malt (26.0 SRM) Grain 2
8.0 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt - 40L (40.0 SRM) Grain 3
8.0 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt -120L (120.0 SRM) Grain 4
4.0 oz Special Roast (50.0 SRM) Grain 5
1.5 oz Goldings, East Kent [5.0%] - Boil 60 min Hops 6
1.00 Whirlfloc Tablet (Boil 15 min) Misc 7
1.00 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice (Boil 1 min) Misc 8
1 pkgs SafAle English Ale (DCL/Fermentis #S-04) Yeast 9
1.00 tsp Pumpkin Pie Spice (Primary 2 weeks) Misc 10
2.50 ml Pumpkin Pie Extract (Bottling 2 weeks) Misc 11
2.00 Vanilla Bean (Bottling 2 weeks) Misc 12

Interesting that all your spices are secondary. Why didn't you use any purée in the boil?

Yeah thats what i was curious about adding it in the boil seems like a lot of the flavor would be eaten by the yeast given pumpkins sugar content.
