Default Honey Pale Ale? What do you guys think?

Ingredients:

Amount Item Type % or IBU
8.00 lb Brewers Malt 2-Row (Briess) (1.8 SRM) Grain 66.67 %
1.00 lb Honey Malt (25.0 SRM) Grain 8.33 %
0.50 oz Cascade [5.50 %] (60 min) Hops 9.1 IBU
0.50 oz Cascade [5.50 %] (5 min) Hops 1.8 IBU
3.00 lb Honey (1.0 SRM) Sugar 25.00 %


Mash Schedule: Single Infusion, Medium Body, Batch Sparge
Total Grain Weight: 9.00 lb

I think that 1# of honey malt might be a little much. If you have never used it before, put in a 1/2# and add more 2-row. You can adjust your second batch if necessary...

Kinda looks like one I just brewed. It was my first all grain, second attempt at putting together my own recipe... Just racked to secondary the other day. Tastes good, pretty sweet compared to most of the other beers I have brewed, but not everyone likes the hoppy beers I make.

I just cooked one up myself... lol... I used 2# of honey malt AND honey. It smells and tastes like a braggot (well it is I guess). I actually can't wait until its aged, carbed, and cold... I think it'll be pretty good!
