Made a 10 gal batch and I think I had some DMS in it, so I wanted to dry hop the second keg of it, but it came out funky. The recipe is below so I wanted to use a hop that kind of went with the style so the guy at the brew store said, why not Crystal, sort of German/American like the brew profile. I dry hopped 1 oz for 1 week and it's all sorts of grassy/weedy. The same day I dry hopped I used the left over hops (2oz bag of leaf) in a tea ball in a few glasses of the draft beer I was throwing it into. At first I was really happy with it, kind of minty/citrusy but on the 3 or 4th it started tasting bad, and now that flavor has filled my 5 gal keg.
Could this be a bad batch of hops, did I let it soak too long? I pulled the hops out today, so hopefully some of the taste will mellow. Anybody ever ran into this with Crystal or other hops? Should I get something like Citra to hop bomb the **** out of it?
