I looked it up since I didn't know what a yooper was and man it looks beautiful there. I bet you have to wear deet from time to time though.

Only from May-October. The rest of the time the snow keeps them away.......

No, normally only June and July are really bad. But this year has been wet, and I was swatting mosquitoes today while walking in the woods. That's the first time I can remember that being an issue. We haven't had our first frost yet, and that makes a big difference.

But........here is a photo of a few nights ago of the northern lights (my friend is a photographer):

I moved to the UP 5 years ago. I thought I knew what i was getting into. Now that we have it figured out, I don't want to leave. The pic is of the kids at the begining of winter a few years ago.
