Wow strange, weird, powerful different, I just started brewing, and my second batch is some sort of ginger wine/mead, it's only a month old, why is this so much different than any other alcoholic beverage I have ever made in terms of its affects ... it has a good amount of the [thread=354615]stupefying essence[/thread] though it contains no sweet gale. Very interesting, I am now hooked on home brewing for sure. Completely different than any commercial product.

That might be the case. I'm mostly comparing it to any commercial beer or wine I've ever had. Yes those would mess you up pretty good, but something is different about this homebrew. I of course forgot to write down everything I put it in it, but I believe it would have been some combination of sucanat, rapunzel, cane juice, honey, molasses, raisins, ginger (lots), azomite, and possibly yarrow. Now it is also possible this was the batch I originally tried to start by using kombucha as a starter, but it didn't get going, so I added 1118 yeast. Hm maybe that is responsible for the unique effects.

Last night I was enjoying it throughout the evening, and it had the normal alcohol buzz which was building intensely, then suddenly it was like I broke through a wall and felt completely sober, except everything seemed much clearer and perception of reality was altered somewhat and was very pleasant. I know it sounds weird, I was just trying to see if anyone had similar experiences with homebrew. I'm guessing it is something to do with the fermentation acting on the ethnobotanicals in the brew.
