i got a kit in the mail yesterday and the kit came with white labs wlp002
and the yeast was warm, so i went and boiled up the kit and pitched the yeast last night at about 6 pm, this morning there is no activity at all, was the yeast dead to start with? any ideas? should i just go and pick up another tube and repitch?
Thanks Lenny

In hind sight, proofing it via a starter would have been the best route before pitching.

Since you pitched the tube straight in, you can experience lag times up & possibly exceeding 48 hours. I would give it some more time to get going before re-pitching.

The WLP002 gets going at about 24 hours if pitched from vial and is a very quick fermenting strain. It may finish up within 4 days. I had similar concerns but my LHBS said that most yeast is shipped to them without icepacks or any concern for climate control. It will be fine.
