Yeast starter

Right now I only have a half gallon growler. How big of a yeast starter can I make? Or do I need a gallon jug or a flask?

Growlers work great for starters.

You can easily make a 1 liter starter with that, it should only be about half full. And you won't need more than a 1 liter starter for most brews.
