Working on a clone recipe for this beer and found this info. I am having trouble with the 26 color rating with just a "touch of crystal". This seems way too dark. Also a little surprised at the hop IBU and schedule.

"White Shield (5.6%) is brewed from pale malt with a touch of crystal for colour and flavour. Its colour rating is 26, making it quiet dark for the style. The hops are Challenger, Fuggles and Northdown, which create 40 units of bitterness. Challenger and Fuggles are copper hops used for bitterness, with Northdown are added at the end of the boil for aroma."

Here's what i I've came up with based on the above info:

8# Maris Otter
1# Crystal Maris Otter (55 SRM)
1# Invert Sugar
0.4 oz Black patent (Just to get closer to the color mark)
1.0 oz Fuggles (60 min)
1.0 oz Challenger (60 min)
1.0 Northern Brewer at flame-out
London Ale Yeast

Total SRM 17.5, IBU 41.5 (Brewsmith 2)

Any thoughts, help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Maybe they mean 26 EBC? There's also the possibility that they're using an invert sugar to add color.
