Does anyone know if you can use an auto siphon to transfer wort after a boil once its brought down to the cold break temp under 80 degrees without melting/breaking the auto siphon...or should I just get a funnel with a screen and pour it into the glass carboy.

your auto siphon will be fine at that temperature.

You won't melt or break the auto siphon, but it will probably clog with debris. Check out the siphontap if you want to transfer via a siphon:

It filters out the trub very well.

I use an autosiphon, however I also use hop bags to avoid all the hop material during transfer.

I just pour the whole darn thing in my fermenter. Aerates and transfers at the same time.

I whilpool the wort once it is down to temp and then let it sit for about 5 minutes and siphon from the side and it usually does not clog. Of course, it has also clogged before. I took a stainless mesh, like on a toilet supply line and used it with better results.

This. I pour back & forth twice to ærate thoroughly, but I keep it simple.

It's all I've ever used. Even in the beginning before I bagged my hops (pellets). Never had any problems.
