Just purchased a kit with a 0.5 micron stone to improve my brewing process. The thing I wonder is, how far to open the regulator for the 60 seconds I plan to oxygenate? 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, etc. I assume this will affect the oxygen ppm? Any setting shows bubbles from the wort, some just more vigorous.

I would hate to go half open or full open only to find the tank only lasts 2 brews.
 
I submerge my stone all the way to the bottom of the fermenter and turn up my regulator until I get fairly vigorous bubbling at the surface. Then I turn it down until the bubbles are just breaking the surface. Too vigorous and the O2 is just heading straight through the wort and into the atmosphere. If the bubbles are just barely breaking the surface then more of the O2 is staying in the wort to dissolve. Don't remember where I read it but that's my theory and I'm sticking to it :D
 
I can't find the article but there was one around here somewhere, and it basically said "dunk the business end of the stone into cool wort, and slowly turn on the regulator until you just start seeing bubbles breach the surface. Start the timer, and when your minute is up, pitch the yeast"
 
I made the mistake of just opening the regulator valve, instead of doing it slowly. Within seconds wort was foaming over.

I got a oxygen wand specifically for my larger ABV beers. I had to going for a minute with my imperial stout. Probably don't need to do it as long for lower ABV, if at all.
