Looks like I need a new wort chiller (must have had water in it this winter - oops).

Seems that basic chillers come in 15,20 and 30 foot for about $45, $60, $80

Bang for buck is a 30 foot THAT much faster then a 20 foot? and same with 20 to 15?

Has there ever been side by side tests?

i can't answer your questions specifically but I have a 50 foot chiller that i made myself and it cools my 5 gallon batches down to 70* in 11 minutes. it's absolutely awesome. i spent $60 on the tubing and another $15 on laundry machine hose that I cut in half and used on the input and output. if i were doing it again though I would buy from http://www.nybrewsupply.com/wort-chillers.html their prices are just way too good not too. I would also advise to go bigger in case you start doing bigger batches but even if you do go smaller you can always use that as a pre chiller. some guys that live down south have tap water that is 80* in the summer so they use a prechiller that sits in a bucket of icewater and connect that to the chiller that goes in the boil pot.
