With little electrical background

Can someone explain to me why Kal's design to mount the element in a kettle is superior to say Highgravity?

I can't explain it but without totally understanding Kal's seems to be the better design.

Just trying to learn some more.

Its really hard to see what High Gravity's method it. Kinda looks like its just heat shrink wrap which is not water tight. If it is just heat shrink then you would have to buy more of it in order to replace an element if it was dry fired or something.

That's the impression I am getting so I will stick with the original plan to steal...I mean borrow Kal's plan and go from there.

No apologies needed. I'm just getting into the idea of electric brewing. Kai's conduit cover looks nice.
