Welcome
Has anybody tried to add Chocolate Wheat Malt in thier Belgian Wit Beer? I was thinking that it would be a good mix, orange & chocolate.

"Chocolate" in this case has nothing to do with flavor.

In fact, no malt labeled "chocolate" has a chocolate flavor. It's about color.

So if you're after a flavor similar to one of those oranges made of chocolate that you smack until it comes apart in slices, you're on the wrong track.

Cheers,

Bob

Oh I didn't understand that you were looking for a chocolate flavor. In that case, I wouldn't do a wit at all. Rather, a dark, chocolate infused stout with some orange flavor might be interesting, although citrus fruits are a challenge in beers, I think.

Jim,
That's why I thought I would start with a Wit and experiment with adding the chocolate. Couldn't be that bad.
