Its a 1350w heat stick running at 110v boiling would take place in a standard steel lets say 3 gallon pot.

yes it would, the narrower the kettle the more vigorous of a boil you will get.

The only problem I have with either is that they don't have grounds and are pre wired so it would be an ordeal to add one (but I suppose you could get away without adding one).

Any water heater element will not have a ground connection. In a hot water heater the tank it self is bonded to ground. You could rig up a clip of some sort to put on the pot that connects it to ground if you wanted to though.
