I remember a while back, somebody posted a site or a link or something tat would search Craigslist for whatever you setit up to search. For example, you could tell it to check for "Chest Freezers, Carboys, Homwbrew, & Kegs" on a certain Craigslist.

This ring a bell for anybody? I bookmarked it, and then somehow lost the bookmark.

Cheers,
Zac

are you talking about craigshelper?

i love craigslist!! i just set up my basement for $335, entirely from listings on there! ($200 sectional, $20 coffee table, $100 TV, $15 DVD player). NICE! For $335, I turned dead space into a (somewhat) nice living area - plus, i'm 6 steps away from my keezer! :mug:

I just finished this up last night. Too bad it's being used by my daughters and their friends tonight for a slumber party. Oh, well. I guess I'll head out to the garage and brew a batch.

Wow... I swear I thought about building this exact same thing but was too lazy to actually do it. My version called for a recurrent daily search with email summary, though.

Thanks for the link!

If you're using Firefox, run the search on the CraigsList you're using and follow these instructions:

ETA:
I just noticed I still had a google search entry in that screenshot from the episode of CSI I was watching. Apparently I mispelled Grissom...

Can't get crazedlist to work. Anyway, I played around with craigshelper for a bit and realized it just kinda sucked. I don't think it's implementing any functionality not already on CL, it just wraps it in a different UI. What I really want to be able to do with CL is:

1. Search multiple physical locations at once for the same item. This is important in NJ because nobody agrees on where the North/Central/South lines are drawn.

2. Filter not just by keyword but also by category, in other words: ["Barrel" -paintball] [NOT IN "Autos" section]

3. be able to mark recurring posts that I never want to see again (i.e. user-defined spam filter list)

4. Email daily summary of new search results (i.e. filtered results I have not seen yet that get by the spam filter) for each search I have defined.

Anyone wanna build that for me? For free? No? Guess that's why I don't have it yet.

craigshelper was able to search many different sites/locations at once. Once you pick the state, wait for it to load the cities link right below it (atleast that's the way it was for FL)

It's not much help, except it lets you look at a couple cities at once... still nothing good up though...

you can also add an rss feed for your search so it will be included in any rss at anytime.

crazedlist is awesome and does everything you want it to do; however you most likely to alter your browser settings to get the results to display for you. They give you a step by step on what to type into your web address bar to make the corrections. 10 seconds and you are good to go.

The site is coming up for me now, but I don't see how it does everything I want it to do. I mean it's better than the native CL interface in that it allows you to search multiple cities at once, but unless I'm missing something that's the only improvement.
