Did a 15 gallon batch and in one of my buckets I have some funny looking floaties at the top. Smells very yeasty, but has a whiter color and makes me wonder. its like a thin film .. This beer has been in the bucket for about three weeks, two weeks in the garage at what I would estimate to be 50 degree average temp. The other two buckets cleared very nicely with near nothing on top,, pitched notty yeast. old mutated yeast left in the bucket maybe? gave notty another try after bad results from the recall way back when ... maybe i'll just stick to fermintis from now on ...

take a SG reading and monitor both the thin film in question and the gravity. if it's infected it'll probably develop weird bubbles and continue dropping gravity points. in the photo the beer doesn't look terrible...yet. it might be nothing at all...

search for Pellicle and/or Infection and get to know your possible new friend:D
