Hi guys I'm making a turbo cider in a 1 gallon demijohn which with 3.5 litres of juice it's og is 1060.once fermentation slows I will top up with a litre of water what will be the og for 5litres ??grateful for any help cheers sid 😉

Hiya sid, Why would you want to dilute your cider with a liter of water (in this case by about 25%). Do you normally add water to a jar of cider you buy at the pub? (sorry, I mean dilute your cider) What does the apple juice taste like when you dilute that with a similar volume of water? Could you not add some more apple juice (OK the fermentation will restart again - but so what? ) or add some cider from an earlier batch? I would think that your idea of diluting your cider with water will make it taste.. um.. tasteless... but I guess, to each their own...

Thanks for your reply mate. II could top up with apple but was concerned the abv % would be too high and ruin the taste. But I'll take your advice and use apple juice

The ABV is what you might very reasonably expect from fermented apple juice. Adding more juice won't in fact up the ABV if the juice is from similar apples and there is no added sugar.
