When does an ipa become a double or triple ipa? Is it just the higher abv or is there other factors?

Ya, pretty munched a coined term for an "imperial" ipa.

And as mentioned the higher gravity yields a beer that needs more hops to balance out the extra malt. Even though they're higher IBU, IIPAs tend to be more balanced and seemingly smoother to the pallet.

I love me some IIPA.
