i was at a grocery store the other day, on my way out they have the 5 gallon jug of water. i was wondering if you could use them as a carboy. obviously as long at the air lock will fit. but has anyone had any issues when trying this. my main reason for wanting to use it is because its only 15 dollars; cheaper than a better bottle or glass carboy and its filled with all the water ill need.. true ill loose some during the boil.

thanks yall

Lots of debate on this topic....if the plastic is #1 PET it's the same as the better bottle....#1 and #2 are both safe....most will say #7 you might want to avoid.....

I use #1 and #2 all the time no problems......

Just be away they are not as strong and will bow also make sure your wort is cool it will melt if too hot
