I'm a new graduate from extract to AG and 4 days ago kegged my first three batches. One batch, I purchased a smack pack and was interested in harvesting the yeast. Work/life got in the way and I'll finally get a chance to try to "wash" it tonight. After I kegged it, I put a sanitized airlock back on it and left it be. Soooo can I harvest or should I do it next time? View attachment ImageUploadedByHome Brew1463692731.726216.jpg

It looks clean to me. Wash it but be prepared to use something else. When ready to go, smell it. I would imagine if it got infected it would probably smell bad. I don't really know because I have never washed a saved yeast. And, I have used some yeasts that, to me, smelled bad when fresh out of the package.
