My first brew was the extract and adjunct grain version of palmer's Lady Liberty Pale Ale. I cracked the first bottle last night and it was excellent. i expect it to get better in a few more weeks. I did the bare minimum, partial boil, no starter, one week in primary, two in secondary (rubber glove for airlock because my secondary is an odd shaped piece of Chemistry lab equipment with a 3.5" hole on top) and only one week of bottle conditioning so far. My fermentation (active bubbling) didn't start for 78 hours which scared me a bit. Thanks to this forum, I didn't panic.

What's the point, you're asking? I made mistakes, and still ended up with a beer that probably won't win any awards, but that I like a lot and I expect ill improve with longer conditioning.

I've got a batch of peach wine in primary as well as a scotch ale bubbling away. I'm hoping to get every room in my house to smell like the beautiful byproduct of yeasties doing work. i'm looking forward to a long and drunken hobby!

thanks folks!

I'd like to see a pic of your "odd shaped piece of Chemistry lab equipment with a 3.5" hole on top", lol
