Today was my very first brew day...I did a partial boil, extract Irish Stout kit from Midwest.

Everything turned out so great! From the pre day soak and cleaning, to post brew cleanup...it went without a hitch!

You can see pictures and notes from today at my blog here: http://fallsdambrewery.blogspot.com

Two things I learned from my first brew day: 1-wort chillers are completely and utterly super awesome and necessary... 2-I rule because my SG was 1.042-1.046 and I hit a 1.044 on my very first brew!

Thanks to every one of you who have helped me with my noob questions throughout this process...let's see what 2 weeks in the primary reveal! Cheers!:mug:

Congrats on a great success! My first brew day was today also. Everything went OK, except for my cold break. Got from 212 to 130F quickly, but it took forever to get down to 80F... Looks like a wort chiller will be my next investment.

Brewing beer wore me out.. ;) Looking forward to hearing how your batch works out for you. Congrats again!

I was able to get my pot down to 70 degrees pretty quickly... I put i in the sink with very old water, ice and snow. I didn't time it but I believe it was less than 15 minutes.

Congrats. Just don't get too confident ;)

My first couple brews were some of my best, then I had a few that weren't all that great and even had a dumper before it got back on track. So, just practice, practice, and practice. The more you do it, the better you get, and you will be consistently churning out good brews in no time.

Kind of OT, but did you get an equipment kit from Williams (the complete kit with wort chiller)? I'm looking to get this one once I move and get the space/ok to homebrew

I got my equipment from midwest supplies and added the wort chiller...williams brewing is good too...not sure about the siphonless stuff...fermtech auto siphon is super ez!
