Vacuum sealer

What is a good vacuum sealer that everyone uses to seal hops. Does it need to be a vacuum sealer? I just wanna find a way to preserve my hops, ive ordered a bag sealer as to stop the actual free flowing air. What sealer is recommended by the great people of hbt

I've put dozens of pounds of hops through my FoodSaver and have been very happy with it. I've stored hops for over a year in my freezer.

Second vote for the Foodsaver. Get the one with the auxiliary port so you can seal in mason jars.

I got mine on sale (Like $49.99 I think) but it's worth every penny.

If you grow your own you have to have a vac-sealer and freezer space.
I'd say buy whatever FoodSaver model is on sale, they all work the same...

I bought my Foodsaver for.... food. years ago. It is pretty basic but gets the job done. I now use it 90% of the time for packaging hops. I like to buy the 4 ounce packs, and occasionally pounds, from Farmhouse Brewing Supply then repackage and freeze when opened.

I have over 20 varieties stored in my freezer. When I make up a recipe I usually have an acceptable hop on hand so I don't have to rush out to the LHBS or make an online order to brew.

I use my Foodsaver for bulk meat from Costco and bulk hops. It's been awesome for both. Well worth the initial investment.

I use a foodsaver handheld sealer ($16) along with ziploc vacuum bags. They seem to be compatible. Bags are sold in 1qt and 1 gallon sizes.
