Using two mash tuns

I have a recipe for a barley wine that contains 24 lbs of grain for a 5 gallon batch. I won't be able to fit all of it into one mash tun, but I do have two of them.

If I spilt the grain bill 50/50 into the separate tuns, and then mix the runnings from each into the same boil kettle, will I still hit my estimated gravity? (Beer smith is estimating 1.116)

I did a similar thing a few weeks ago. I just boiled it down to my OG, no problem.

You can absolutely do this. I have done it once or twice and had no issue.
