Using Root beer bottles from microbrew

I just received a case of empty root beer bottles from a friend, I have read a few things about them holding the smell, I am more worried about bottle bombs. They are the short stubby bottles from a microbrew, looks like the same bottles they use for their beer. Has anyone had trouble using root beer bottles for bottling beer?

There glass so no problems with smell after a good cleaning! The problem is with plastic bottles!

Also root beer and other sodas run 2-3 times the pressure that most beers do so there is nothing to worry about glass strength wise.
