So I have 1lbs of golden DME and wanna use it to make a 1/2 gallon batch of beer, I will be adding 1/2 gallon of apple juice to give me a full gallon batch. Now I know you cant extract the sugars from the oats without grains so how could I do this? I kinda wanted to add the oats to give body and creamyness. Also can you use quick oats?

Put the oats in a bit of water and cook them. That brings out the "creaminess" that you want. Quick oats are the same as old fashioned except they are rolled thinner so they cook faster.

Using oats without a base grain will also add some starch to your beer and it likely will not clear but remain hazy.

Cool! I did a 1 gallon batch I used about 1/2 gallon water, added 4 packets of apple cinnamon quick oats and let it cook until the water boiled. Then added 1lb of pilsner DME and a few pellets of Columbus hops and boiled for about 30 mins then added 3-4 table spoons of maltedentrin and then on flamout added about .25 ounce of Columbus then toppee the whole thing off with apple cider. Its fermenting now lol
