What kind of results can I expect if I use:
1.7 kg Coopers Real Ale
250 ml maple syrup

Aiming for about 20 L.
I'd love to add malt or hops, but it's my last Coopers can and I can bottle this hypothetical brew right before I go away for 2 months.

I find the real ale is actually okay if I use a cup of table sugar and I let it age for long enough, but I'd like to see what happens if I sub in maple syrup.

Will 250 ml be enough? I'm having a hard time getting answers from the online brewing calculators. I usually shoot for a 3-4% beer.

If 5 gallons to the fermentor, around 1.032 OG and likely a minor maple flavor note once the beer is ready to drink.

Might consider using maple syrup after primary fermentation has completed to avoid having the rather delicate maple character being scrubbed...

Cheers!

Would I perhaps be better off using some other sugar to start, then adding the maple to the fermenter after 7 days?

IIRC Craigtube (guy with a YouTube channel that makes videos on brewing with Coopers kits) made a brew with maple syrup and decided it was a waste of effort. Given the price of maple syrup and the minimal flavour imparted.
