I found a submersible water pump that is 1/4 horsepower and capable of moving 30 gallons / minute. Instead of running my hose for the entire time (especially in winter) I thought I could just recirculate ice water from a large tub through my plate chiller.

From people's experiences, would the specs of that pump get the job done? Is there something else I should consider?

Thanks.

I would do a quick wet run with that pump. Somewhere ive read the neighborhood of 100 plus really does the job but thats through an immersion chiller.

I dont have a pump yet nor do I have a plate chiller so dont quote me on this. I would also keep more ice on hand you just in case.

If you have an immersion chiller run that for the first 10 mins then run the pump afterwords through the chiller. I have heard people do this for their lagers.
