I was looking on ebay for some kegs. One listing I came across seemed to make it a point to say the kegs were absolutely never used for root beer.

Is there something about root beer that will wreck the keg for other things such as beer?

It's an issue with plastic, the root beer taste just sticks around. Should be no problem on a stainless steel keg though. (as far as I'm aware)

I think the root beer flavor can be hard to get out of the o-rings...but you're going to replace all of those anyway, so I'm not sure why else it would make a difference.

At least one of my cornies smelled like root beer when I got it, and I've never had a problem.

I see, thanks. :)

I believe they were asking just under $50 for 2 kegs and $15 shipping. Not sure if that was for the 2 or each though.

Not a bad deal. I usually find mine locally on craigslist. Someone will ocasionally have a storage unit with 100 of them for $25 each. I usually replace all orings on a new keg, after a 24hour soak with oxiclean
