So I made a batch of Apfelwein last night and it got me thinking about a even cheaper and more simple way to make it on the cheap...let me know what your think...

supplies needed 1-2 gallon jug of applejuice, 1/4 pound of dextrose(corn sugar), 1 pack of montrechet yeast, 1 airlock gasket and airlock.

1. poor out a glass of applejuice to make some space for other ingredients
2. poor 1/4 pound of dextrose in to jug and shake to break down the sugar
3. add yeast and shake to mix it in
4. drill hole in the lid to insert gasket and airlock
5. wait for 4 weeks and you should have tasty apfelwein on the cheap

Although it may be a pain to rack to bottles with this method it would certainly be a cheap way to make apfelwein and to keep your fermenters open for other things...thoughts

Basic Brewing did something similar to this, fermented their cider right in the jug. It'd work fine, even easier if you just buy a stopper that fits the top of the jug, no drilling required.
