True T23 refrigerator

Does anybody know if it is safe to drill thru the side of a True T23? I want to convert it to a kegerator but I'm afraid of what I might find under the skin.

Does it have a coil on the back or underneath? If so then it should be safe. But if you want to be sure unplug it & let it warm up. Then plug it back in - if the coils are in the sides then the sides will start getting warm.

If the condensing unit is underneath (I think it is), pull the louvered grill off the front and have a look around. It probably needs the condenser coil cleaned anyway. While you're under there, look to see how the refrigerant lines are routed into the cabinet. They probably go up to the evaporator either along the back wall (protected by a sheet metal cover) or they may be inside the wall. You can generally see them in the evap area be using a mirror and a light in the rear of the evaporator area and see how they routed from that end too. I'm pretty sure the sidewalls are clear on this model, but a quick call to True tech support may help if you can't see for sure....

In case anyone is wondering. I was able to easily drill thru the side of my T23 and mount two beer taps. It looks great and now I am able to dry age meat in it since I will not be opening the door often to pour a glass of beer. Cheers!

Nice, do you have an image you can share. I just purchased a scratch and dent T-23 and plan on converting to a kegerator.
