I still love the marketing campaign "tastes great vs. less filling".

On one hand you have people who drink it because it tastes great. On the other hand you have people who care less about taste but love the fact you can put away an 18 pack on not feel filled up

I just can't come close to making homebrew for the same price I can buy High Life so there will always be a spot for it in my fridge.

I loved John Madden in those commercials!

I love the slogans -

"Frost Brewed" - what its not boiled?
"Triple Hopped" - Aroma, Bittering & Dry? Three hop additions? Or three pellets of hops in a 1bbl batch?
"slow-brewed giving it an exceptionally smooth taste" - How can you slow brew a 60 minute rice beer?

Frost brewed and slow brewed...I don't think boiling wort classifies it as ”brewed”. I'm assuming they are talking about lager yeast as the frost brewed part and slow brewed for smoother taste as lagering the beer itself.

I recently went to a bar I'd never been to and proceeded to ask the bartender, "What is the hoppiest beer you have?" Her reply? Miller lite. After ignoring her reply and looking at all of the beer taps, I saw that that had a 78 IBU IPA. So much for having to learn about your products..

I'm willing to bet she got that from the fact that Miller is Triple Hops Brewed.

Regardless of the product what does it say when you spend more of your budget on advertising then you do in the manufacturing of the product? A great product sells itself with little or no advertising.

I would disagree. I think the sales have little to do with the greatness of the product. It may sound weird but there is a reason why BMC sells more beer, I think it is hardly because it is a greater beer than our craft beer.

I have to admit that the triple hopped thing got me when I was younger and did not understand the brewing process. Although I was confused how something triple hopped could have so little actual hop flavor. As was said before, you could add a pellet per bbl three times and it would technically be "triple hopped."

If Dennis Hopper had asked for an Old Style instead of Pabst Blue Ribbon in the movie Blue Velvet, hipsters would be drinking Old Style today and the once mighty beer brand would be known nation wide.

It's been brewed in Wisconsin since 1902. Affiliated with Pabst.

It is probably only sold in the Midwest these days.

Old Style is big in Chicago, at least around Wrigley Field. I tried one just to say that I had done so.

I will admit I have hipster tendancies. But I'm not a total hipster ********* atleast not enough of one to drink PBR because of some movie. I've never seen that movie though. I honestly think PBR is ok beer. Old Style is just terrible.

I don't know. If you are going to be a hipster and drink cheap American lager beer, it might as well be one that was used in a David Lynch movie.

As much as we homebrewers like to bash "flavorless beers" homebrewers have spent more time trying to perfect light cream ale and lager recipes to be as flavorless and refreshing as possible!

Light beers have their place. You can't beat BMC for the following uses:

1. Lawn mowing
2. Gardening
3. On the hot sandy beach
4. In Beer pong cups
5. You can't shotgun a homebrew
6. hydration!
7. drinking a lot of beer without getting drunk.

I love craft beers but I'm a sucker for a $1.50 Miller Lite pint on happy hour v. $5 for a craft brew.

Three things sell products:

1. PRICE
2. Sex appeal
3. Advertising gimmicks

i'll beg to differ on #5. lol Though i havent bought BMC in a while, craft does make some good summer/outdoor brews but in certian cases are cheaper and you can drink 20X than two strong craft. Though theres some placed i'll never drink because of the price of BMC, example: music festivals, there is a by annual music festival near where i live which is sponsored by budlight. Which isnt a big deal just listening to some music. the 24oz cans you can find across the street for $3 sells for $11-13 in the place. I know people will buy it because there is no re-entry and just want to get drunk. I'm just dumbfounded on the price. (thats why i sneak in liquor)
