So... here's my thinking.

I want to be able to lager in my chest freezer, but I'm going to be relocating the chest freezer outside of my house to a different location.

So, if I brew at home still... when would be the optimal time to transport the chilled wort. I'm thinking right after chilling to proper temp maybe? I have to transport 30minutes away approx.

Maybe cool to temp, drive and let it shake around (for oxygenation sake), get to the site, dump yeast, and get into lagering chamber? I'm likely losing a great deal of temperature en route... and warming it back up won't be easy.

Anyone ever do anything like this or give it any thought? I'm trying to avoid having to relocate my brew-rig to the lagering location- even though that would probably be best for quality control, thats not nearly as convenient.

Thoughts?

Why don't you chill it further than you need to and then take a temp reading when you get there. You could fine tune that after a few batches to know how far to go- colder in summer, not as cold in winter. I guess a benefit of chilling down below your pitching temp is that more cold break drops out which is a plus if you don't filter.

One thing you could do is shoot your headspace with pure O2 for it to slosh around in. It would be quite oxygenated then. Not sure if this is sound advice fore 30 mins, but .... YMMV - literally. :)

If you are going to do this on a regular basis, you could go to a second hand store and get a cheap ski type jacket. Then cut it to fit the jug or bucket tightly. Just wrap it around and zip it up.

I like the idea of filling the headspace with pure oxygen and letting the trip do some of the work.

Road trip anyone?
