Too cold to carb?

I just bottle an American Brown and a RIS yesterday. But my basement is 55F - is this too cold to get proper carbonation? SWMBO is kicking my beer out of the upstairs broom closet...

It will take considerably longer, but I think ultimately you should get carbed up. I think almost any yeast is still active at 55, just a bit slower.

I've never had any luck carbing up beer, regardless of yeast strain, when the ambient temperature was under about 62 degrees, and even then it took forever.

Yep - find somewhere warmer. Box it up, put a red blanket over it and a bow on it and set it by the xmas tree..... it will fit right in

Thank you - I've made a little spot at the bottom of the linen closet
