Ok, so what is happening here?

I moved recently, and noticed that the pH of my ground water was different (6.7 instead of 7.5). Both D.C. municipal water.

I wanted to nail this down, so I did the following:
--Replaced my pH calibration solution
--Ordered a new Ward labs test, measuring the pH of the sample I sent (measured value 6.7)

The results of the Ward labs test showed the water was actually a pH of 7.8, with a mineral composition almost exactly like my old water.

I'm using a Milwaukee pH meter with a relatively new probe, measuring at 60 deg, making sure not to contaminate the calibration solution, etc.

The only thing I can think is that the meter and probe spent some time stored in my shed out back during the recent cold snap. Everything looks ok, and I'd think that any damage from the cold would have broken or cracked the probe, but I'm out of ideas at this point.
