Well kinda helped if I wanted a external one I actually want to use the fridge itself and a thermostat off the wall connected to the refridgerator to control the temp

You can use the ebay one and mount it directly to your kegerator. You don't have to build an enclosure for it like everyone else in the thread.... just a thought....

Clearly, we're having a communication problem in this thread. I don't think any of us understand what you actually want to do.

If you could be a little more expansive in your thoughts it'd probably help us help you.

From the looks of that picture, you have an HVAC wall thermostat that somehow you want to connect to your fridge - but you don't actually want to mount it on your fridge. Is that correct?

Ok, "expansive" isn't your thing. Too bad, because pulling teeth isn't mine.

But wtf, I'm just killing time until the snow stops falling and I have to fire up the snow blower, so...

When you say "it", do you mean that HVAC wall thermostat in the picture?

If your answer would be "Yes, that's what I want to use", the short answer is: "That won't work".

Everybody in this thread is special. OP is trying to make a kegerator out of a house thermostat and a fridge. Easy enough to understand?

The cooling range for the Honeywell RTH111 only goes down to 50 degrees f on the cooling setting. I like my beer to be somewhat colder than that.

From the Honeywell operating manual:

Temperature settings
cannot be changed.
• The System switch is off.
• You are setting the temperatures outside
their allowable ranges:
• Heat: 40 °F to 90 °F (4.5 °C to 32 °C).
• Cool: 50 °F to 99 °F (10 °C to 37 °C).

Having only started looking at temp controllers builds, other drawbacks of using a home thermostat (with the desirable temperature range) is that it needs a battery power supply (or an additional transformer), a relay, and some additional surgery. By the time, these additional items are added, the cost is higher than the ebay aquarium temp controllers already mentioned. The home thermostat also may not have adequate "output delay protection" to set a minimum time between turning your fridge on/off.

Both methods rely on plugging the refrigerator into the controller rather than trying to re-wire the fridge sensor itself. (Obviously, you can also omit the socket and hard-wire the fridge AC lines to the relay.)

Personally I think the STC-1000 Aquarium Temperature controller from EBAY is the way to go but I sure do hate the thought of having to convert temps from Centigrade to Fahrenheit to figure out the temp.

Hehe... You're sitting in front of a computer after all. Almost no thinking required. Just Google something like:

5c in f

and you'll get back "5 degrees Celsius = 41 degrees Fahrenheit"

BTW, My high school science teacher would have given you extra credit for using centigrade instead of Celsius.
