I come here to read brewers' posts, legendary brewers, experienced brewers, new brewers, all grain guys, extract brewers; always seem to learn something from them and if I have the knowledge answer questions too. i even come here occasionally for grammar correction.

I use HBT as a social outlet too. I've laughed my ass off on some of the humor injected into post. Lately, not getting much of that. I'm sure it's just me but reading the threads from a few years ago I notice much more technical research and good will.

Recently (and some of my rant might have started from this) A guy started a thread to help newbies out. He didn't make any false claims to be an expert. He gave a link to a website and on the site he gave answers to many new brewers questions, and he did a very good job of it.

Somewhere along the line in his post "USE THE SEARCH BUTTON" topic came up. WTF. If you're a new guy you probably don't know about the search button aside from the one at the center top of the page which if you do use sucks butt. There was one in the glass of foamy beer on the top of the page which works great. I swear when somebody first enlightened everybody about that it was just a small little google image in the glass but now boldly states search above the glass and has a window to type the search words into.


Anyway, carry on. Rant over.

I know what you're saying Passedpawn. It was just a rant. There are many great people here on HBT who do care and help a whole lot. I'm pretty sure I was being a bit of an A$$ with that post.

agreed, it took me a little while to find the magical search function in the corner. My life was forever changed the day i found it. I agree though, some posts reccently have gotten off topic. You could put 10 homebrewers in a room and they might never agree on a topic. There is more than one way to skin a cat and thats fine. People just need to stop being so sensitive

I've noticed that some folks here are REALLY passionate about their beer. So sometimes posts get a bit heated and snarky. I try to overlook that, because I've learned a lot about brewing here, even though I've been homebrewing since the early 1990's and did a 4 year stint as a brewmaster at a brewpub in NJ.

But you are right, there are 2 or 3 rather large egos that occasionally post on the internet... in between uploading pornography and bizarre conspiracy theories. Just kidding, folks.

I never use filters they make for bad brew. And if you guys would realize you are all doing it wrong and just do it my way there'd be no debate.

Good point Ischiavo. I see from your profile you're an electrician. I was for many years. Aircraft electrician and pretty good at it but have to admit AC in the home I've never quite understood. So simple on airplanes because pretty much everything is a ground.

Anyway. I learned a few things over the years about electricians. Good people, savvy, excellent trouble shooters, and use much common sense along with applied science to achieve the task at hand.
