I've been a 5 gallon extract brewer for about a year and I am thinking of moving to partial mash. I use a Bayou Classic 10 gal brew kettle for boiling the water, adding the grain and extracts. My question is... would I be better of getting another Bayou Classic 10 gal brew kettle or would I be better of with a 10 gal Igloo-style Tun? What are pros/cons.
Thanks
Jim

I'm not sure why you would want a second kettle. If you want to do Brew In A Bag (BIAB) for your partial mash, you can use the kettle you already have for that.

If you'd prefer a more traditional mash tun, then the igloo cooler you mentioned is an option.

Take a look at BIAB techniques for the "all-grain" portion of the process - a partial-mash could be viewed as a "mini"-BIAB.

If you have been steeping crystal/caramel/roasted malts at 150F for 30 minutes, you already know the basics of BIAB. One way to steep crystal/caramel/roasted maltsis to soak them in water at 150F for 30 minutes . Mashing is (basically) soaking grains in water at 150F for 30 to 60 minutes. Roughly the same process, just different ingredients.
